Good Japanese Food. Very friendly service staff
Good but not great Japanese food in Burlingame. Then interior and the menu seems out of touch. But the food is consistently good.
Quality Nigiri set! Hamachi was off the charts. Great prices relative to the Bay Area.
Great Japanese meal every time. Sofia, also Aiko are the best, know Sodia couple of years now. She is very attentive. The food is great. Love them all... yummy!! Also complementary ice cream or fresh fruits at the end. Also easy large parking in the back. The Best!
Great food and a great location. I have been dining here for years. I have never been disappointed.
Was not disappointed. Rolls were fresh and delicious. 10/10.
Nothing I hate more than pretending to be something that you're not. Staff are Chinese. I just finished my dinner at the sushi bar. The fish wasn't fresh and the cut was a bit sloppy. The service was good- tea was refilled constantly, hot towels before and after meals and complimentary dessert.
I will visit here a 2nd time before I go back to Texas, and post photos. But after having some terrible sushi in San Francisco (the name of the restaurant is Sugoi, avoid it at all costs!) I thought it was only fair to post a review about the first sushi restaurant my friend took me during my visit here. This place has the freshest fish I’ve ever had. The hamachi is hamachi belly. Excellent.
Nice place with large menu, good sushi and friendly staff. Great atmosphere ..
Sometimes they are forgetting something (soy sauce, chopsticks) but in general tasty food.
Sashimi were so fresh. Must try Uni from Japan, best Uni ever.
Very fancy restaurant, waitri in beautiful kimonos.Had big Big bowl of soup, Nabe Yake Udon, delicious but enough for 2. Or 4.Only 1 small paper napkin, too shy to ask for another.Place was almost full for dinner, very popular.
Sushi was good, not too busy on a Monday evening, workers friendly.
Highly recommend the California Special roll. It's a regular California Roll with baked salmon and special mayo on top. The California roll portion was of higher quality than other sushi places I've been to recently. In addition, the salmon with mayo added well to the overall taste of the roll.
Really loved the fresh steamed butter crab. The owner used the remaining uneaten pieces and juices to make your choice of udon noodle soup or rice porridge, we chose the rice porridge. They also have fresh lobster sashimi. They make their own ice cream. If you've never tried jasmine ice cream before and you appreciate subtle fragrant flavors, I recommend trying the jasmine ice cream.
Highly Recommend the LUNCH Bento box , two fish choices, big bento box!11am to (close at 2, so respectfully no later than) 1 or 130pm to order. Also at LUNCH, lots of Ramen big bowl choices, very meaty and good Value!DINNER , sushi, etc is Very Good. Asahi beer, small or Large. And maybe mint chip ice cream.Lots of huge group soup turren choices, but try beef sukiyaki if you want 1in 1 person size.Very clean and polite staff!
The food and service were above our expectations. We truly loved the environment of this spot. Great restaurant to take the family out for dinner.
Gluten free soy sauce! Good food and good prices for the area. I went to another place, two blocks from here, and the prices are way more expensive than here. Warm, cozy and traditional Japanese food.
The style and flavor were authentic but I wasn't feeling the love. The whole crew was absent of the requisite hospitality I have always enjoyed at good sushi places.
I like this Japanese Restaurant, you get good Japanese food and also very friendly staff. After looking thru the menu in most restaurant, before I order, I usually ask recommends from service staff. Sometimes, we overlook the good one. The lady told me they have salmon head available in the kitchen and they can cook grilled or if I wanted Miso Soup with Salmon head which I ordered. Turn out, it a good decision, it is very good, warning also, this serving is very big, it's good for four person. Chicken karaage is good. My personal opinion is the cut being a little bigger than I expected. We also ordered diffirent Sushis and it all good.
Tomokazu is a nice place to eat and enjoy the atmosphere they have. Servers appear to wear kimonos and there are many jellyfish-shaped lamps. Food was decent, nowhere near similar choices nearby but solid. The unagi nigiri was quite good, pretty much butter on rice (with different flavor). Also had some tonkatsu which was a little lacking. Water tasted as though the lemon was in there for a couple of hours.Service was nice and decent though their methodologies seem to be confusing some of them.
First time coming. We where here for a convention on the fly. Service here is great and the quality of food is very great!
Everything is good here. Portion is big like the udon, which can be shared.
Great taste, friendly service
Sushi -fresh and delicious. The lamb chops incredible.
Nice feel of Japan inside. Good corner location. For special would have preferred better selection of fish. Tempura was lightly battered.
Chicken teriyaki on point
Great fish selection, wonderful cuts, extensive menu and awesome service. Love the family restaurant vibe. Can hardly believe this place has been a community staple for over 20 years. Looking forward to coming again.Must get Dungeness crab. And ask to have the congee option. Yum- it takes all the leftover juices and flavors and turns it into an amazing porridge
Very clean. The pork and chicken were delicious. Service is a little slow.
Really good food and service.
I have been enjoying going to this place for past years.... their grilled squid and sushi pizza are MUST TRY!
Pretty good salmon, delicious roles, but most importantly reasonable prices. Authentic and fresh, I enjoyed my time here.
I like this sushi place...atmosphere is friendly..sushi always tasty
Have several years visiting Tomokazu at the San Francisco airport I finally tried their Burlingame restaurant. Row fish is delicious and super fresh, service is very good and personnel extremely caring. I live this place
Amazing food and friendly staff
Amazing sushi and very nice people
Ok. Safe to say that I've been here at least a half dozen times. Try the beef udon or the sushi pizza! You can't go wrong with either of those! For the adventurous get a large hot saki and a large Sapporo!
Great food and great service. The sashimi is really fresh and a good selection of sushi rolls. Will definitely return to try other stuff.
Well priced.
Chicken wasn't cooked fully. I'll still come back and get more food.
I dont really like sushi that much and then seating so uncomfy
A bit small, food is very bland
Our favorite sushi place
Nice, clean and authentic Japanese restaurant. Waiters wear kimonos and bring free tea in Japanese manner. Food options are plenty and great choice of seafood. Sushi 🍣 are not great but ok. Try their crab authentic dishes, they look and taste awesome.
Overwhelmed and understaffed another customer and waited over an hour for our pickup order. So many tickets scattered they don’t know what was picked up or cooked yet I think they forgot about us.
Not japanese. They are very much Chinese.
Very good food. Good tea and sushi. Waitresses wear traditional clothing at night which gives a more authentic feel
I'd been a patron of Tomokazu since it first opened decades ago. It was my go to bento box lunch place up to 3/4 times a week. I still go there for Bento Box lunch a couple times a month, love the sashimi and hamachi shioyaki combo. Very fresh sashimi, and hamachi is grilled with yummy crispy skin, comes with miso soup with tofu and seaweed, crispy lettuce salad, pickled veggie, bowl of sushi rice and couple of slices of orange. Makes me feel healthy!Went there for a very good dinner recently, the waitress recommended Hokkaido uni, scallops and lobster sashimi, too bad their lobster was over 4 lbs, didn't get that, but got the others with my favorites sweet shrimp and mirugai (geoduck clam sashimi. They were so good! She also recommended a sake to pair with my dinner.
An OK place with high end prices. Place is very busy. There's ample street parking and there's also a parking lot in the back lot. Their signature dish is a $40.00 crab special that everyone seems to order (except us). Wait staff are friendly and make sure you're taken care of.The place has about five sushi chefs and they bang the orders out quicker than McDonald's with presentation being a bit sloppy. Portion control was not good as some of the sushi (Uni Nigiri) came in different sizes. Another interesting move is their amaebi, their shrimp head is partially peeled off, and when it arrives it looks like a skeleton shrimp head. Sushi quality is decent, but if I were to compare the quality this place would come in a distant third behind Tomodachi in Hayward.Prices here are on par with other higher end sushi. Their vegetable tempura portions are generous considering you pay $14.00 for it.
Staff not friendly, food just ok
